My perspective probably isn’t worth much, since I’m officially an Antinomian. If the heathen take away from the tsunami the message of “God’s wrath abides on the ungodly” and “Repent or ye shall likewise perish” then it seems that grace has been accomplished. However, if Christians proclaim this as God’s judgment and an attitude that says “ah ha, this proves we’re right and they were wrong,” I suggest most heathens will react not by being in awe of God’s sovereignty, majesty, and wrath, but instead be indignant at such a capricious and malicious God as portrayed.

As this journalist elucidates, it was once God’s wrath expressed through natural disaster; the same tragedy now merely asserts to the rational mind that God does not exist.
