Denise is blogging again; this time on good-byes.

Emergent No has ended comments. I’m waiting for the denunciations from Phil Johnson.

Ready to be creeped out? This quote from the Challies comment thread on the T4G Statement of faith will do it:

They also hinted during the discussion panel (both here and elsewhere) that this statement was soon going to be used somehow as a formal benchmark statement of modern orthodoxy, and whomever ministers, ministries, or denominations that will not sign/agree with this statement will be as Paul mentioned, ultimately anathema. I STRONGLY encourage them to do just that. Thoughts?
Uh….yeah….

1) That’s a creepy, weird idea. Denominations will be anathema if they don’t sign this?

2) I can’t believe Dever or Mahaney would have anything to do with the sentiments expressed by this comment.

3) “Formal?” Formal by who?

4) Some of the truly reformed are delusional regarding their right to proclaim orthodoxy. Start looking up “Boston Church of Christ” to see what some of these people are starting to sound like.

The comment thread at Challies on this post is a real tour of the TR discussion right now. There is quite a bit of fault-finding with this document, from Camp and Carla who find it lacking it scripture, etc, to considerable consternation that a) the complimentarian position is about to become equal to salvation (no surprise there) and b) the Lord’s Supper must be “administered” to be valid, a fascinating choice of terms to empower the clergy (also no surprise there.)

BTW, Joel Hunter is in there posting under several assumed names. I see his handiwork everywhere (jn).
